Position Type: Marketing Communications Specialist

SUMMARY:  The Marketing Communications Specialist works closely with the bank’s lending and deposit sales staff and Marketing Committee to develop and implement marketing strategies and communications.  Furthermore, they will attend and coordinate various community and professional events as a representative of the bank to promote and expand brand awareness and customer base.

Plans and produces technically sound communications projects and campaigns that address business and/or marketing issues identified by the Marketing Committee and bank leadership. Develops and applies business acumen. Provides assistance and guidance to coworkers, team members and suppliers. Continues professional development and begins contributing to the broader communications community by participating on business or companywide teams. Work is performed with limited supervision.

Under limited supervision, based on the communications plan, prepares creative brief to provide to internal and external resources. Recommends and utilizes internal and external resources to plan and produce communications projects. Prepares accurate estimates of costs, milestones and resources prior to initiating projects. Monitors and adjusts project plans, as required. Produces deliverables consistent with plan objectives and strategies, incorporating the knowledge and input of functional experts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Demonstrates core values and guiding principals as outline in the Bank’s Strategic Plan.
  • Works with the bank’s compliance team to ensures that all activities, marketing materials, and work functions comply with compliance requirements as defined in company policies and procedures and state/federal laws and regulations.

  • Manages consistency of the company brand(s) across all platforms.

  • Manages content calendar for social media and event calendar for staff awareness and engagement

  • Manages the design of certain marketing materials and advertisements to support both commercial and retail lines of business when not otherwise allocated to an outside agency.

  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the company website(s) and social media channels.

  • Assists in creating content, media, presentations, etc. to be utilized in gaining visibility prior to and during these events.

  • Manages internal and external company events – coordinating catering, event space, entertainment, etc.

  • Researches and monitors industry and competitive activity so that market opportunities can be identified and acted upon when appropriate.

  • Tracks all sponsorships specific to each region and line of business and ensures ads and logos are received in a timely manner to maximize bank visibility and marketing dollars spent.

  • Responsible for updating bank information across online directories, search engines and other third-party web sites.

  • Works directly with Bank vendors to obtain bids and complete the fulfillment of marketing/communications related materials.

  • Maintains inventory of marketing materials and ensures branches have what they need.

  • Researches social media strategies and approaches.

  • Maintains and marketing and event calendar for the organization.

  • Responsible for developing certain internal communications vehicles such as Structural.

  • Assist with press release development for new hires and certain product promotions.

  • Other marking and communications duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:  Minimum two years business related degree or four years job related experience.  High school diploma required.  Sales and marketing experience.  Work history within financial services preferred but not required.

Language Skills:  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.  Conduct oneself with level of professionalism.  Must be able to read, analyze and interpret industry journals and reports.  Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients or vendors, regulatory agencies or member of the business community.  Proven ability to present information to groups or individuals in a confident and professional manner.

Reasoning Ability:  Must be able to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Other Skills/Abilities/Specifications:  Knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, is required.  Microsoft Outlook is helpful.  Strong sales skills commensurate with knowledge and experience.  Superior human relations skills.  Ability to work effectively under deadlines and pressure.  Self-motivated ability to work consistently and productively under minimal supervision.
