Deposit Operations Specialist / Teller

Job Description - Will be a part of a team that is responsible for performing a variety of daily operational duties including, but not limited to, processing of incoming and outgoing wires, return items, branch capture, reconciling of accounts, report review and research requests.  Performs duties to assist and support all functions of the Deposit Operations Department.

Greet, process, and handle customer banking needs, assisting with any questions that may arise and cross-selling bank products when applicable. 

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in successful operation of the Bank’s deposit products and services by following written policies and procedures
  • Communicates and works with Electronic Services, Deposit Services, and Retail Administration, as well as various other departments
  • Assists with the inputting and research of customer discrepancies regarding all deposit services
  • Responsible for monitoring and addressing all non-post, stop pays, or NSF items on a daily basis
  • Responsible for processing foreign items and returned mail
  • Process chargeback’s, ACH items, wires and CD interest payments
  • Responsible for verifying that signatures on all wires are in compliance with Bank policy
  • Process daily account maintenance requests in accordance with Bank policy and file properly
  • Responsible for processing daily reports and settlements as assigned
  • Report discrepancies immediately and assist in clearing discrepancies
  • Maintain detailed records on all work responsibilities
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the Bank’s customers
  • Remain current on and adhere to all regulatory requirements and training
  • Responsible for processing levies, garnishments and bankruptcy requests
  • Responsible for processing branch capture work and for review of mobile and remote capture deposits
  • Responsible for providing back up to all other Deposit Operations Specialists
  • Various daily/routine Deposit Operational Duties as Primary or Secondary responsibility
  • Other Duties
    • Standard Teller duties
    • Effectively respond to customer inquiries, either by telephone or in person, regarding account status or error resolution
    • Attend training seminars to enhance professional expertise
    • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related office experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:  Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.  Conduct oneself with level of professionalism.  Proven ability to present information to groups or individuals in a confident and professional manner.

Mathematical Skills:  Must be able to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as interest.

Reasoning Ability:  Must be able to assist tellers when issues arise regarding bank policies and procedures.  Knowledge of legal, ethical issues, and bank policy when dealing with employee disciplinary actions.

Other Skills/Abilities/Specifications:  Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel is required.  Microsoft Outlook is helpful.  Must be able to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner.  Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
