August events around the Twin Cities you don't want to miss!

Minneapolis

Uptown Art Fair

Where: Streets of Uptown, Minneapolis     When: August 3rd - 5th     Cost: FREE

Uptown is known for having some great summer festivals, and the Art Fair is one you don’t want to miss! With the 55th year of the award-winning fair you can expect to see over 350 artists, amazing food, entertainment, and plenty of family fun activities. Culinary experiences from over 25 different vendors will offer ice cream, tacos, and more! Pair your food choice with a refreshing beverage from the beer gardens and enjoy listening to live music of genres from folk to rock.

Crayfest 2018

Where: Smack Shack, Minneapolis     When: August 4th     Cost: $30 - 40

Do you love crayfish, burgers, brats, and lots and lots of beer? Then make sure you plan to visit the Smack Shack Saturday, August 4th, from 12 - 8 pm. They will be offering all-you-can-eat crayfish boil, burgers and brats and all-you-can-enjoy beer and hurricanes. Live entertainment will also be provided all day from local musicians. You must be 21+ to attend this event.

Taco Tour on Lake Street

Where: Lake Street, Minneapolis     When: August 5th     Cost: $2

Lake Street is filled with a variety of shops and restaurants, amongst them are some of the best foodie locations. Come enjoy this family-friendly event on August 5th. You’ll receive two delicious tacos, randomly assigned from an authentic restaurant with transportation provided.

Powderhorn 24

Where: Midtown Greenway, Minneapolis     When: August 10th - 11th     Cost: $24

Come celebrate the Twin Cities bicycle community and the Powderhorn neighborhood as a rider or volunteer. Either a challenge yourself to bike the 24 hours, or split it up amongst a team. If you aren’t ready to ride - come out and support your local bikers! Either bring a lawn chair to cheer them along their route or check out the volunteer opportunities. This is a great opportunity to connect with the community and get active!


Saint Paul

St. Paul Food Truck Festival

Where: Mears Park, Saint Paul     When: August 18th     Cost: FREE

Come enjoy over 40 food trucks, live music, and games at the third annual St. Paul Food Truck festival. The fair will take place from 12 PM until 10 PM on August 18th. Want to try everything, yet worried about costs? Well pair share for $5! Each food truck will be offering at least one signature dish at this price to help ensure you are able to try anything you desire. Come prepared to enjoy some delicious meals.

Twin Cities Water Lantern Festival

Where: Lake Phalen, Saint Paul     When: August 25th     Cost: $30

Have you ever had the chance to send out a lantern along a lake, next to many people in your community? Well the Water Lantern Festival is finally coming to the Twin Cities. A ticket includes access to the festival, opportunity to design your own lantern, and then of course launching it! While you’re here, enjoy live music, food trucks, and fun for the entire family.

Minnesota State Fair

Where: Minnesota State Fairgrounds, Saint Paul     When: August 23rd - September 3rd     Cost: $12 - 14

The Minnesota Fair of the summer, also known as the Great Minnesota Get-Together, the Minnesota State Fair! This takes place across 12 days with an abundance of food, agricultural exhibits, parades, entertainment, rides, animals, and more. Check out the free music, live shows, and competitions on the official website.

Wayzata

Live Summer Music

Where: COV Wayzata     When: Various dates     Cost:  FREE

Come join the fun on the COV’s patio while listening to live music along Lake Minnetonka! Various dates are offered throughout August to ensure everyone has a chance to make it to this event.

Minnetonka

Tour de Tonka 2018

Where: Highway 7, Minnetonka     When: August 4th     Cost: Various Prices

If you're looking for another biking event to attend, consider Tour de Tonka on August 4th. Over 3,500 riders will be moving through 24 different west metro communities.

Plymouth

Shaver Shuffle 5K

Where: Parker’s Lake, Plymouth     When: August 4th     Cost: $40

Calling all runners, walkers, and shufflers! The 6th annual shaver 5k will be taking place Saturday, August 4th. Dogs and strollers are welcomed as well. Come raise money for a great cause, cancer research and a community fund.

Ramsey

Annie Jr. Production

Where: Northern Starz Theatre, Ramsey     When: August 2nd-5th     Cost: $8-12

Join in the celebration of the first Penguin Project Performance at Northern Starz Theatre, Annie Jr.! Northern Starz Theatre is the first Minnesota national replication site for the Penguin Project, a program that supports an atmosphere for children with disabilities to explore unique talents. This program was established in 2004, now with theatre chapters throughout the United States. As like most Penguin Project Performances, Annie Jr. will give these children a therapeutic value by promoting social interaction, communication tools, personal confidence, and many new friendships. We are excited for this classic story to take place under such a supportive topic!

Isanti

Celebrate Isanti

Where: Downtown Isanti     When: August 11th     Cost: $15 

Isanti is excited to present a summer community involvement day! With great residents, businesses, and organizations, this event is to sure be a success. Various activities such as a family 5k bike ride and run/walk will take place in the morning, followed by a kid's festival in bluebird park directly after. The fun will continue with a car show throughout the day, and close with a street dance in the evening!

White Bear Lake

LeGrandfest Music Festival

Where: Polar Lakes Park, White Bear Lake     When: August 18th     Cost: $15 

Who doesn't enjoy live music, local artists, and beer gardens? This music festival celebrates young, local musicians - giving these new faces a chance to play in a large show, provide affordable tickets for the community, and an overall excellent time! Grab a friend and a lawn chair, and come enjoy some young Minnesotan talent!
